Main Article Content
Abstract
Since its creation in 1957, the undergraduate degree in Sociology at the UBA has had a turbulent course. The nationïs unstable political situation, added to the emergence of heated controversies among sociologists, resulted in a history dominated by breaks and discontinuities. Far from a process of progressive institutionalization, a troubled succession of stages took place within which the orientation of the degree changed profoundly. In contrast, the reorganization that followed the return to democracy opened up a period of unprecedented stability, characterized by the permanence in time of professors, courses and the academic program. This article seeks to reconstruct the process of institutional and intellectual reorganization of the undergraduate degree initiated in 1984. It tries to account for this novel stability through the analysis of the different authorities that were in charge of the institution and the initiatives of its main actors
