Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the course taken by FORJA from its beginning in 1935 to its dissolution, a decision the group itself made ten years later. At the beginning, the article offers a brief reconstruction of the origins of the group. The article then moves forward to analyze the changes and reformulations that FORJA introduced in the Radical Party's identity, paying special attention to the way in which FORJA supporters reinterpreted Yrigoyen's legacy. Later on, there is an exposition of the FORJA program's main elements, thus examining the ideas outlined in that program as well as the advertising campaigns the group created in order to spred its ideas; it also analyzes the way in which FORJA put down roots in different parts of Argentina. Finally, the article refers to the complex relationship the group had with the Peronism in the critical conjunction in which they appeared in the Argentinian political stage.
