From labour disputes to general strikes. Notes for thinking its dinamics 2002-2012 in Argentina
Main Article Content
Abstract
This work reflects on the relationship among labour conflict and general strikes in the period 2002-2012 in Argentina. The interest in the problem comes from the Iñigo Carrera- Adrian Piva debate about the general strike as an indicator of the rise and fall times of the class struggle. This paper link this relationship with some discussions between economic and labor policies conflict thesis, includes a statistical reconstruction of industrial disputes with data of Centro de Estudios Nueva Mayoria, Taller de Estudios Laborales and Ministerio de Trabajo, Empleo y Seguridad Social. Finally, reconstructs general strikes from newspaper Pagina 12 and La Nación. The relationship between these types of conflict is historically determined and therefore changeable, but if a decoupling between the two forms of protest is observed more than coincidence, the analysis of the general strikes of the decade crystallized certain transformations experienced by organized labor in Argentina.
